Traditional All-American

1. Who Can Tryout for All-American?
Throughout camp, the NCA Staff will nominate campers for NCA All-American in the categories of Leadership, Dance, Motions, Jumps, Stunts and Tumbling. If an athlete exemplifies superior skills in one of these categories, they will have the opportunity to tryout for the team!

2. What Skills Do You Perform During the Tryout?
Nominees will perform three stamina advanced jumps, a spirited entrance, which may include tumbling, and the Camp Cheer that is taught on Day 1.

3. When & Where Are All-American Tryouts?
Tryouts are held during camp. Ask your Head Instructor or consult the Camp Schedule specific to the camp you are attending.

4. How Many Cheerleaders Do You Tryout With?
Depending on the size of camp you’re attending, there could be anywhere from 10-50 All-American Nominees trying out. But don’t sweat it. This isn’t a competition – your goal is to meet the requirements on the score sheet. Not out-shine the other nominees.

Speed All-American

1. Who Can Tryout for All-American?
Athletes will be nominated by the NCA Speed Staff throughout camp. Coaches will also be allowed to nominate three athletes of their choice to tryout.

2. What Skills Do You Perform During the Tryout?
All athletes will execute a stamina three jump combination (all jumps must be AT LEAST level to be accepted), perform the Camp Cheer with a high level of execution and perform specific stunting and tumbling skills.

Athletes can choose one of three options:

  • TUMBLE ONLY - If they choose the tumbling option, they must successfully complete a round off back handspring back tuck (minimum).
  • STUNT ONLY - If they choose the stunting option, they must successfully complete a transitional entrance taught at camp, into an extended stunt (the stunt CAN sponge prior to extending if needed), with a full twist cradle dismount.
  • TOP ALL AMERICAN - If an athlete desires to be considered for our Top All-American award, they must successfully complete the TUMBLE AND STUNT requirements in their tryout. Difficulty and quality of execution will be taken into consideration in determining the Top All-American at each camp.
