“A Tradition of Excellence” The National Cheerleaders Association was
founded in 1948 at Sam Houston State University by Lawrence “Herkie” Herkimer.
His vision was to create an atmosphere where cheerleaders could learn all
aspects of cheerleading to support their athletic teams and become ambassadors
in their schools and communities.
From those early beginnings, NCA has
expanded to teach crowd-leading and technical skills to millions of cheerleaders
around the world. Not only do we help develop great athletes, but we inspire
great leaders who are encouraged to rise to their highest potential with life
skills learned through cheerleading – teamwork, personal responsibility,
integrity, perseverance, and more.
NCA is proud to be a company that is
credited with developing many “firsts” – the first cheerleader camp, spirit
stick, pompon, Herkie jump, and uniform manufacturing company, among others.
More importantly is what we continue to accomplish with our nationwide Summer
Camps, our memory making Special Events, and the most amazing and exciting
Championships in the cheerleading world.
Our tradition of excellence and legacy is
just beginning for the next generation of cheerleaders.
